If you’re looking to teach in one of the most important industries in the land-based sector, you’ll certainly find it in agriculture at Plumpton College.
Plumpton College are holding a staff recruitment event on Tuesday 14 March 6-8pm; come and see our outstanding facilities for yourself. Meet us in our new Agri-Food building; find out more about a career in teaching, and the ways in which we can support industry specialists with teacher training.
At Plumpton College we have recently completed an £11m Agri-Food investment programme and we’re looking to recruit enthusiastic industry experts to join our highly successful Agri-Food and Environment division to inspire the next generation in agriculture.
Their investment has created first class resources and teaching facilities including:
- The introduction of Lely A5 Robots for our high-yielding dairy cows to complement our crossbred herd milked at a GEA Herringbone parlour
- A brand-new state of the art high welfare 120 sow breeding to finishing pig unit
- A fully-functional bio-secure system to ensure the highest standards in farm security and teaching resources to benefit students
- A new state of the art agri-food centre with new classrooms, meeting rooms and a training development kitchen
- A new butchery department, fully furnished with the latest equipment and teaching resources
As part of their new strategic plan, they are also now developing a new five-year farm strategy to ensure they best utilise these new facilities and their 800ha estate to demonstrate the best farming practices to students through increased productivity, a drive towards more regenerative practices, and a reducing carbon footprint.
Plumpton College are now looking to recruit a number of key individuals with excellent industry skills (across disciplines including livestock, arable, business, and mechanisation) and aspirations to be lecturers in this flagship curriculum area, to support the growth and development of our new facility. If you are not an experienced teacher we will support you to develop your teaching skills through our trainee teacher programme. This will involve a reduced teaching commitment whilst you gain your credentials to become a qualified teacher.
For those who are experienced teachers you will hold a relevant teaching qualification, and will continue to develop through the many CPD opportunities available to all academic staff.
The ideal candidates will hold a degree or equivalent qualification in agriculture, or have industry experience that our students can benefit from. You will be a professional, hardworking, and confident team player with a track record of good or outstanding teaching and above all you will be passionate about what you do!
This is an amazing opportunity to be able to inspire and motivate our students helping them to maximise their potential and make positive progress towards their timely success, future study, and employment in the agriculture industry.
As well as a competitive salary, you can also look forward to a great range of benefits including: 37 days holiday plus bank holidays and up to five efficiency days at Christmas; membership of the Teachers’ Pension Scheme; comprehensive CPD and teacher training (where applicable); TOTUM card; Employee Assistance Programme; free on-site parking; discounted Plumpton wine; staff discounts on Plumpton courses; free eye tests; cycle to work scheme; and free use of the onsite gym.
With over 3,000 students, excellent resources and a drive for continuous improvement, Plumpton College is actively seeking staff who want to make a difference and be part of this exciting phase of development. Plumpton College are Ambitious & Progressive, Enterprising, Professional, Supportive, and Passionate about everything they do – if you share these values and would like to be part of our growing team then they’d like to hear from you!
