We have a key position at our Canterbury Store for a Yard Supervisor to join the team. In this role you will have a team to develop and empower. This is a full-time position contracted to 40 hours per week on a 5 out of 7-day rota.

As Yard Supervisor you will lead the yard and feed store team in maximising the Store’s sales performance by delivering exceptional levels of customer service. You will assume primary responsibility for the daily planning, implementing, and maintaining of impeccable standards, organisation and following up on all sales within the yard and feed store. You will work close with the Yard Team Members for the smooth day to day running, getting involved in tasks at al levels, including driving the forklift truck as required.

Duties would include but are not limited to:

  • Booking in of goods accurately and within a timely and efficient manner.
  • Ensuring stock levels in the warehouse are kept at the appropriate levels through replenishment.
  • The accurate completion of all required paperwork and ensure all H&S checks are being done on the required basis.
  • As with any warehouse environment H&S is a paramount. You will uphold the standards within the area ensuring colleagues are safe when within this area of the business.
  • Effective communication with other departments and colleagues.
  • Management of resources across shift patterns.
  • Ensuring all warehouse members are following the company procedures and policies.
  • Responsible for warehouse department resource, induction, assessment, and training.
  • Dealing with day-to-day customer queries.
  • Regular manual handling and heavy lifting (weights of up to 25kg).

Yard Team Supervisor

Job Purpose
Working alongside the Yard Manager, the role will play an integral part in supporting the Business Centre Manager (BCM) in the day-to-day operation of the store.

General Description of the Position
To organise, oversee and motivate a team of staff who are dedicated to maximising the store’s sales performance, and in delivering exceptional levels of customer service. To assume primary responsibility for the daily planning, organisation and follow up of all sales activities within the yard and feed store.

Responsibilities will include:
Sales;

  • Motivate and inspire the team, to ensure exemplary standards of customer service and satisfaction are consistently delivered.
  • Assume responsibility for the day to day management of the feed store and yard compound area and to increase sales through promotions & merchandising activities and maintain standards.
  • Be fully involved in all sales campaigns as required.
  • Become proficient in all aspects of counter duties, when requested, in an efficient and helpful manner.
  • Ensure the provision of an efficient customer delivery service.
  • Ensure staffing levels meet with the operational needs of the business through the organisation of rotas & schedules.

Customer Service;

  • Ensure high standards of customer service and satisfaction are consistently delivered.
  • Deliver feedback to individuals, and the team, to ensure full awareness of their customer service performance as measured using current business tools.
  • Take ownership of customer complaints relating to the yard operation (or other parts of the site operation as appropriate) to ensure a timely, and satisfactory, resolution. ensure customer complaints are handled in a professional and timely manner.

Human Resource;

  • Take responsibility for self-development; to support and assist in recruiting, training and developing the performance of a competent and committed team through strong leadership and motivation.

Stock Control;

  • Assist in the maintenance of the integrity of the stock file through implementation of the correct procedures with receiving stock & loading of stock.
  • Generate orders, including special orders, from the computerised ordering system according to standard procedures.
  • Ensure all products in this area have min/max levels according to historic sales, seasonal demand and the min / max review schedule.
  • Oversee & run a structured delivery schedule with suppliers to ensure a smooth flow of deliveries to the site.
  • Monitor and organise all movements of stock including transfers and returning to suppliers, in and out of the site.
  • Ensure that all deliveries of goods are checked in detail against the order and delivery note and ensure a timely entry onto the computer stock file against the computer order.
  • Assist the stock team in the preparation and execution of category stock checks.
  • Manage stock levels & stock turn
  • Action store audits within required timescale
  • Ensure the appropriate goods have adequate POS.

Cost Control;

  • Assist the management team in maintaining efficient and cost-effective store operations through staffing levels, tight stock control, good housekeeping and administration.

General

  • Be aware of and comply with company procedures and instructions and all staff notices which will be displayed on the works notice board.
