One week left to seize golden farming opportunity

News Posted 21/08/14
The National Farmers Union (NFU) is encouraging young members of the farming industry to apply for the Cereals Development Programme to be in with a chance of gaining a full range of knowledge and experience in the arable sector.

Successful applicants will meet key industry personnel at research institutions, British Agricultural Bureau in Brussels and supply chain visits such as Warburtons Bakery. The joint partnership with NFU and grain co-op Openfield will offer participants the opportunity to investigate the key drivers in their sector.

Having seen first-hand the success of the first Cereals Development Programme, NFU Combinable Crops Board Chairman Mike Hambly said: “We have had a very high standard of candidates apply so far, but with just a short time left, we want to ensure that anyone with aspirations of working successfully in arable farming is aware of this fantastic opportunity.

“There’s a huge breadth of experience, education and training on offer and the programme has the potential to have a really positive impact on the careers of young people in arable farming.”

The Cereals Development Programme is open to participants under the age of 35 and the deadline for applications is 29 August 2014.
