Rushfields Farm Shop in Brighton was awarded the top title in the steak and kidney pie category. Piglets Pantry entered the vegetarian pie class and The Real Pie Company entered the beef and any flavour combination pie category: both came second. Mud Foods was also awarded a runner’s up place in the speciality meat pie class.

The seventh annual British pie awards took place in Melton Mowbray and this year 830 pies were entered from 131 professional bakers and butchers. One hundred and nine pie perfectionists were involved in the judging process, including TV chef Andy Bates, food critic Charles Campion and food writer Xanthe Clay.
