A recent trial undertaken at the Royal Agricultural University (RAU) revealed how limiting badger access to mineral licks, blocks and tubs with an innovative feeder design will improve on-farm biosecurity.
New project to improve pig welfare
Animal welfare scientists are helping Sainsbury’s identify ‘good mums’ for free farrowing systems on their pig farms. It is hoped the results will encourage more of their farmers to switch to higher welfare systems where the pregnant sow can be kept loose during and after the birth of her piglets.
