Roundoak Farm at Sutton Valence in Kent recently supplied 10 Highland heifer cows to the Kent Wildlife Trust for use in conservation grazing throughout the county. Roundoak Farm is a specialist farm focusing on rare breeds, and this arrangement compliments its existing Conservation Grazing Programme, which already includes supplying Lafarge with Hebridean sheep for grazing across the North Downs at Halling, as well as other agreements with several other partners throughout Kent. These include Kent County Council, Medway Valley Countryside Partnership, and several other Local Councils to name but a few.

Conservation grazing has become an important part of the evolution of Roundoak Hebridean and Highland cattle. Over the past few years, flocks and folds have been very successfully used across the South East to bring the neglected and overgrown land back to serviceable management. This natural use of rare breeds they anticipate to expand, and are in discussions with many other potential partners.
