Two sponsored walks through woods and across farmland will be held on Sunday 24th April 2016, allowing walkers to experience the pleasure, colours and sounds of Spring at its peak.
Ranil Jayawardena, MP for North East Hampshire is lending his support. He will start the event and take part in one of the walks.
Starting from Cliddesden Village Hall near Basingstoke, RG25 2JQ, two circular walks of approximately four and seven miles will be available for registered walkers of all ages and abilities. The walk will be along part of the three castles pathway, a route ridden by King John and along some of the old drover roads that cross the county. Walkers will see the wonderful, vibrant colours of woodland and hedgerows in full spring. There will also be the sights and sounds of wildlife and the scents of the countryside.
Organiser and CPRE Hampshire volunteer, Hannah Houstin-Lacey explained: “CPRE does vital work and they need the funds to pay for research, communications and other campaigning costs. We shall be walking together, supporting CPRE Hampshire and making a difference for the future of the countryside.”
The charity wants to encourage walkers from all corners of the county to take part. CPRE Hampshire’s director, Michael Rescorle said: “The countryside itself doesn’t have a voice, but CPRE stands up and speaks for it through its campaigns. This walk is the ideal chance for people to enjoy the beauty of North Hampshire.”
