It is the second time that the farm has hosted an open day, and this year built on the success of the previous year. Free tours ran throughout the day with members of the family and farm team giving visitors the chance to see behind the scenes at one of the county’s leading organic farms.

With the strawberry harvest in full swing, and the first of the tomatoes being picked, visitors were able to sample fresh fruit and vegetables straight from the plant. A machinery demonstration was also set up in the orchards, showing visitors the big array of machinery needed to run the farm.

Chegworth Valley’s home farm covers nearly 100 acres, with about 70 different varieties of produce grown including apples, pears, soft fruits and salads and more than 300 acres are now farmed in total. The farm offers home delivery of produce throughout Kent, East Sussex and London with next day delivery and the choice of taking a box with pre determined contents or choosing your own produce. Chegworth Valley’s award winning range of juices are also pressed and bottled on site using hand selected fruit which is often pressed within hours of being picked.
